A large granite outcropping is the centerpiece of Medoc Mountain State Park, which contains over 2,300 acres of hardwood and pine forests. Visitors can enjoy nature by fishing for bluegill or largemouth bass, canoeing down Little Fishing Creek, picnicking among sweet gum trees and strolling along along ten miles of hiking trails. This park is located in Halifax County, 21 miles southwest of Roanoke Rapids.
